Safety measures in Alpe d'Huez for summer 2020

How Alpe d'Huez will keep its visitors safe this summer

The summer season is almost here! Lifts are opening on July 4th 2020 in Alpe d'Huez and strict safety measures have been put in place to ensure that everyone can enjoy the mountains without worrying about the Coronavirus.

The local lift company, SATA Ski, wants to ensure that everyone's safe before, during and after they ride the lifts. Here's how:

When purchasing your lift pass
To avoid the crowds and maintain social distancing, your best bet is to purchase your lift passes online whenever possible. There are great deals and discounts to be had when buying your ticket on SATA Ski's website – take a look at our Lift Pass Guide for more information. If you want to buy your pass at the lift pass offices in resort, it's always better if you use a credit card to pay for your tickets rather than cash.

Desks and ticket machines, as well as all public places, will be disinfected regularly and hand sanitiser will be available. There will also be informative panels by the desks and the lifts, and the staff will be trained on the new protocol to welcome visitors.

When boarding the lifts
Measures will be taken to ensure that visitors keep a safe social distance when queuing at the entrance of the lifts. Hand sanitiser will be available at the lift stations.

On the lifts
Face masks will be obligatory when riding on the lifts. All of the lifts in operation will be disinfected regularly, while the luge will be thoroughly sanitised after each customer. Lift capacity will be reduced to ensure that travellers can maintain a safe distance.
