Chamois d'Or Restaurant, Alpe d'Huez main

1. Chamois d'Or Restaurant

Located at the Chamois d'Or hotel, right at the bottom of the pistes, this restaurant serves traditional gourmet French cuisine with a modern twist and made using local ingredients.

Chives picked at the nearby gorges de Sarenne, wild cumin from the riverbeds, dandelion flowers from local pastures. You will enjoy dishes inspired by and made with the best local products from around Alpe d'Huez.

Their lunch menu includes a large cold starters buffet, sandwiches, pasta, grilled meat and fish. For dinner they serve a selection of gourmet starters including foie-gras and prawns, a range of traditional meat and fish mains, and to finish, cheese-boards and home-made desserts.

They also have well-priced lunch and dinner menus as well as children's menus.

2. L'Atelier Bar and Restaurant

Alpe d’Huez

Welcoming and friendly bar, located in the centre of resort and close to the telecentre mid-station, it couldn't be easier to access from anywhere in the resort, or on your way down from the mountain.

For oyster lovers there is a choice of different quality oysters, as well as impressive seafood platters, and there are also some good non-seafood alternatives amongst the tapas menu.

You can wash down your food with a glass or bottle of wine from the extensive wine list, or opt for a cocktail.

The bar is modern and bright, with a pool table and other games to keep visitors entertained all night. In warmer weather, sit out on the sunny terrace on tables or deckchairs.

Open from 16:00 every day, with tapas served from 17:00 - 19:00 and the restaurant serving from 19:00 - 23:00. Seafood platters can also be ordered to take away.

At lunchtime you’ll notice that most restaurants offer a well-priced plat du jour or dish of the day. It usually comes with locally sourced meat, potatoes and either a salad or seasonal vegetables.

Almost all the restaurants in the resort are child friendly, especially if you let them know in advance. Evening meals are generally served from 19:00 and if you arrive then you’ll find the atmosphere quieter than later in the night.
