1. Au Dahu Grillé Restaurant

French run restaurant and bar with a nice terrace to sit out in the sun. 

Lots of Montagnarde favourites on the menu here with both the fondue and raclette getting rave reviews. They're family friendly too, with a children's menu on offer.

Open daily for lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and then for dinner from 19:00 to midnight, summer and winter.

2. Smithy's Tavern

Smithy’s Bar is a true Alpe d’Huez classic - a lively spot that promises great food, great music, and great company. Whether you’re here on a family holiday and need food the kids will love, catching that must-see sports event, or planning dinner for two or thirty, Smithy’s can do it all. The menu is packed with crowd-pleasing favourites, while the bar serves up delicious cocktails, crafty beers, and good vibes from the first sip.

Once the plates are cleared, the fun continues. With live DJs every night and a weekly band setting the mood, the energy builds as the evening rolls on. For those who stay until the end, dancing on tables isn’t just allowed - it’s encouraged! Between games of darts, live music, and friendly laughter, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes.

At the heart of Smithy’s is a welcoming international team who take pride in offering genuine hospitality and a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere. Whether you drop in for a meal, a quick pint, or a late-night dance, they’ll make you feel right at home. 3. Chalet du Lac Besson Restaurant

Open throughout the winter and summer seasons, pedestrians and skiers alike can enjoy this mountain restaurant.

Enjoy a number of traditional Savoyard specialties at this restaurant and either sit out on the terrace in the sun, or enjoy the cosy interior on a bad weather day.

Pedestrian access from Alpe d'Huez is via a short walk around the frozen lake and for skiers heading down the Chamois track, you will find the restaurant on the right at the Boulevard des Lacs.

In summer, the restaurant is actually accessible by car and there are 400 available parking spaces once the snow has melted.

Booking is recommended especially during peak season as the restaurant can get very busy. Open in the winter and summer seasons from 09:00 to 17:00.

4. L'Atelier Bar and Restaurant

Alpe d’Huez

Welcoming and friendly bar, located in the centre of resort and close to the telecentre mid-station, it couldn't be easier to access from anywhere in the resort, or on your way down from the mountain.

For oyster lovers there is a choice of different quality oysters, as well as impressive seafood platters, and there are also some good non-seafood alternatives amongst the tapas menu.

You can wash down your food with a glass or bottle of wine from the extensive wine list, or opt for a cocktail.

The bar is modern and bright, with a pool table and other games to keep visitors entertained all night. In warmer weather, sit out on the sunny terrace on tables or deckchairs.

Open from 16:00 every day, with tapas served from 17:00 - 19:00 and the restaurant serving from 19:00 - 23:00. Seafood platters can also be ordered to take away.
