Smithy’s Tavern is a lively dinner spot offering a mix of Tex-Mex favourites, grilled meats and generous desserts, perfect for a satisfying evening meal. Freshly made burgers are a highlight, with vegetarian options and all the classic trimmings to suit every taste. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by live music and DJ sets throughout the season, making it a fun and energetic place to enjoy great food, drinks and entertainment with friends or family in the heart of the resort.

Right in the centre of resort on Rue du Coulet, Smithy’s Tavern is a lively, British-run restaurant and bar that’s as popular with families as it is with seasonnaires. It’s well known for its freshly prepared burgers served every evening, with toppings ranging from classic cheese to the legendary “Fat Boy” – a towering triple stack with hash browns, onion rings, bacon and a fried egg. 

You can choose from chunky hand-cut, skinny or sweet potato fries and there are veggie options too. The menu also includes Tex-Mex favourites, grilled meats and generous desserts. It’s a great spot for a fun evening out, with live DJs and bands on most Thursdays and a buzzing après-style atmosphere. 

Open daily from 17:00 in both summer and winter, Smithy’s is one of the most popular places to eat in town so booking ahead is a smart idea.

Traditional French cuisine served either on the sunny terrace for afternoon dining or the comfortable cosy dining area for lunch or dinner.

Affordable lunch menus are proposed each day, with varied options available as 2 or 3 courses.

Inspirations from the lunch menu include, roasted honey pork, beef meatballs and tuna koftas. On the A La Carte menu you'll find a selection of grilled meats, classic French dishes, pizzas and charcuterie or cheese platters.

A good selection of wines is also available.

3. Bistro Les 2 Mules Restaurant

The restaurant celebrates cuisines from around the world, and offers a varied and international menu. More traditional French meat and fish dishes are available, as well as dishes with Asian influences, and a good range of gourmet pizzas. The menu also makes use of local produce with some Savoyard specialities, including fondue. A children's menu is also available. In the lower part of resort, close to the Congress, you'll find this charming restaurant with a modern and stylish dining room inside, and a suntrap terrace.

Inside this restaurant, enjoy a chic dining experience on plush seating in the bright and airy dining room still. Alternatively, the sunny terrace outside is very enticing on a warmer day. Pizzas and some tapas dishes and desserts are available to order for take-away. At lunchtime, take advantage of the reasonably-priced 2-course menu, which changes daily.

Tasty traditional mountain specialities in the heart of Alpe d'Huez. They have a children's menu and can seat 40 people inside with space for 30 on the sun terrace.

On the large menu there is plenty of choice with something for everyone - try their pierrade, fondue, grilled meats, salads, soups or order their set menu.

You'll appreciate the friendly and quick service. The team will give you a warm welcome and look after you throughout your meal.

5. Le Trappeur Restaurant

Le Trappeur in Alpe d’Huez is a cool, casual burger joint with a relaxed skate-and-surf vibe, conveniently located near the DMC lift. The menu offers a tempting range of burgers, ribs, pizzas and more, with hearty portions and bold flavours. In the evenings, chalet delivery adds extra convenience for those staying nearby. For something big, indulgent and packed with taste, the Jack Daniels burger is a must-try, making Le Trappeur a favourite spot for a fun, satisfying meal after a day on the slopes.

The main attraction here is the burgers, widely considered among the best in the resort. The menu offers plenty of choice, from classic beef to chicken and veggie options, and includes their signature Jack Daniels burger, a towering stack of bacon, hash brown and barbecue sauce. You can go for a single, double or even triple pattie depending on how hungry you are. 

Alongside the burgers, there are also ribs, pizzas, salads and sweet crêpes, with American beers on offer too. Open for both lunch and dinner, Le Trappeur also provides free chalet delivery in the evening if you fancy a cosy night in with your burger.
