La Cremaillere Restaurant Review

Excellent Food & Great Value at this Charming Little Restaurant

Location
Alpe d’Huez
Imprint
By Jan Ogorzalek, Updated

Just on the outskirts of the centre of Alpe d'Huez this restaurant has traditional charm, with a wood fired oven and seating for up to about 40 people. The downstairs dining area offers a cosy retreat and is perfect for a big group or couples.

I chose this restaurant as the menu offered something slightly different at a good price. Most dishes are fresh from the wood fired oven and if you choose a meat dish from the menu (chicken, duck & lamb options) it's served with a baked potato, roasted veggies and a delicious sauce of your choice.

The Cremerie makes for a very nice change to the pizza, tartiflette and lasagne options traditionally available in most resort restaurants. It's also worth noting that the restaurants that do serve well cooked meat dishes either offer them with fries or are very expensive. This place was a real treat and great value for money.

I went for the duck, which was cooked perfectly and accompanied by some tasty roasted vegtables. The service was very friendly and I was offered a complimentary digestif afterwards too, which always goes down well!

I highly recommend you give this place a try, it's well priced and offers excellent food in a freindly atmosphere.
