We're approaching the busy February school holidays and as is usual here in Alpe d'Huez there's plenty going on in resort to keep you all entertained. 

It’s not just about skiing here in Alpe d’Huez there’s always a huge amount of varied things happening away from the slopes. From discovering curling to visiting the local museum, there’s something for all tastes.

Here’s your guide to the entertainments in Alpe d’Huez for the next fortnight or so.

Thursday 26th January

  • 10.30am – Guided tour to the summit of the Pic Blanc at 3300metres. 2hour duration. Open to all. €2 cost.
  • 5pm – Night luge on the floodlight Eclose slope, behind the leisure centre.  8years and over.  Free with a lift pass or €1.50 for 1 run or €5 for runs without a lift pass.
  • 5.30pm – Indoor adults football tournament at the leisure centre.  Free entry. 3hours duration.
  • 5.30pm – Night/floodlight skiing on the Signal slope at the top end of town until 7.30pm.  Free with your lift pass or €11 without a lift pass
  • 6.15pm – Classical music concert at the church, behind the leisure centre.   €10 entry or €5 for students, over 65’s and carte premium holders.

Friday 27th January

  • All day – French Police Service National slalom championships.  Signal slalom slope at the top end of town.
  • 6pm – Exhibition of painting at the leisure centre.  Free entry to all.

Sunday 29th January

  • All day – French Police Service National slalom championships.  Signal slalom slope at the top end of town.
  • 7pm – Ice hockey match at the ice rink.  The local boys of Alpe d’Huez take on higher league opposition in the form of Marseille.  2 hours. Free entry.

Monday 30th January

  • 6pm – Welcome drinks at tourist office in the old town.  1hour duration.  Free entry.
  • 6pm – Badminton evening at the leisure centre.  2hour duration.  8 years and over.  Free entry.

Tuesday 31st January

  • 10.30am – Guided tour to the summit of the Pic Blanc at 3300metres. 2hour duration. Open to all. €2 cost.
  • 2.30pm – Discover curling session at the ice rink – 1hour minutes in duration – Free entry
  • 5pm – Night luge on the floodlight Eclose slope, behind the leisure centre.  8years and over.  Free with a lift pass or €1.50 for 1 run or €5 for runs without a lift pass.
  • 6pm – Badminton and volley ball evening at the leisure centre. 8 years and over.  2hours duration.  Free entry

Wednesday 1st February

  • 2.30pm – Guided tour of the historic church of our lady of the snow. 1hour 30minutes in duration. Open to all. €5 cost.
  • 5.30pm – Guided visit and tour of the museum of local Huez and Oisans region. 1hour 30minutes in duration. Open to all. Free entry with a carte premium pass or €5 without a pass.
  • 6pm – Badminton tournament at the leisure centre.  12 years and over.  2hour duration.  Free entry.

Upcoming Events

Alpe d'Huez hosts a wide range of events throughout the year. In the winter, you can expect motor racing on ice, comedy festivals, ski races and various live music gigs. During the summer months, the focus turns to cycling with the Tour de France usually passing through town. The Megavalanche, a mass-start mountain bike race that draws thousands of MTB fans from around the world, takes place in July.
