What's new in Alpe d'Huez this winter 2017-18
Ski area developments, more apres-ski fun & other news
SATA Ski, the company that operates the ski lifts and resort of Alpe d'Huez, are always looking for new innovations and ways to improve their appeal to holiday makers, all year round.
Here's a quick run down of what's happening in the ski area for this winter, as well as other new things happening from businesses within resort.

Ski area improvements
This year there will be a number of improvements and developments to the ski area, snowmaking facilities and after-ski activities.
One of these (mentioned in the video below) is the addition of more snow-making facilities which will apparently make Alpe d'Huez the best snow-making French ski resort there is.
Other things to look out for include additional routes in Marcel's farm fun zone on the slopes and more snowpark runs and features.
Active Ski School private lessons
Active ski school will be offering only private ski lessons and coaching going forwards. Lessons can either be one-to-one with the instructor or in small groups of friends or family from 2-5 people.
Four-season Alpine coaster
A four-season Alpine coaster will be coming to Alpe d'Huez, giving the resort more family-focused fun (although big kids can enjoy it too!) The coaster will be built in Les Bergers sector of resort. Details of prices and when it will be ready to use are scant at the moment, so check back on this page for updates very soon.
New flights
This year there are more regular weekday flights into and out of Grenoble Airport. There will be flight services every week of the season on Mondays (easyJet Gatwick), Tuesdays (Ryanair Stansted) and Fridays (easyJet Gatwick). Ben's Bus will have a service connecting all those flights to Alpe d'Huez. There are also even more weekday flights over the Christmas, New Year and half-term period as well as, of course, loads on Saturdays and Sundays. Ben's Bus will have a shared service connecting every single scheduled flight into and out of Grenoble. Prices start from £47.80pp with discounts for groups and children.
Other ski area improvements
In the region of €21 million is being spent in Vaujany on improving its ski lifts and pistes as part of a project that runs from now until 2020. Part of that spend (€5.57 million) has gone on replacing the Enversin gondola which should be ready for operation this December. It will carry 8 people per cabin and has been designed by Porsche Design Studio.
A new section of piste will also be built in Vaujany, an extension of La Vaujaniate people will help ease the flow of skier traffic on the Montfrais side of the mountain.
