Albenaza rule Alpe d'Huez. It's really that simple. The three British boys have dominated the resort's aprés scene this week playing back-to-back gigs at Smithy's Tavern, The Underground and O'Sharkeys. On their annual alpine tour, Albenaza have been wowing crowds across France with their eclectic set of covers, throwing in a couple of their own tracks to keep it fresh.
Whether you fancy a trip to the ice grotto, trying curling or visiting the museum, there’s always plenty going on away from the slopes.
Christmas week, and Alpe d'Huez is full of cheer. I'm not sure if it is all Christmas cheer, but it is certainly a very cheery place. I have had another birthday this week, and in my opinion there is no better place to celebrate.
We really are at the business end of the season now…with tomorrow being APRIL!!! How scary is that! Soon enough us seasonnaires will all be returning to the economic crisis, credit crunch and a summer of rain in the UK… So it's time to make the most of the blue skies and late nights until the end of the season.

There is much to report on the Après front this week. Just about all of the bars and restaurants in resort are now open, or at least well into their opening preparations. However there are still very few holiday makers and so it is time for the resort staff to find their way around and meet all the colourful characters in Alpe d'Huez.
There is quite a lot to report this week from the world of Après, as not only is it European Gay Ski Week in Alpe d'Huez, but my girlfriend is here for the week which has meant a good deal of wining and dining in my world, mustn't complain though and why would I with the great restaurants and nights out I have been having this week.

Christmas week is never one to disappoint in Alpe d'Huez, and this year has been no exception. On Thursday I managed to get up to Sphere Bar for drink after a nice day on the hill. It's had a lick of paint since last year, and a few new sofas, but the combination of friendly chat from the bar staff, good music and a great place to enjoy an après drink or two remains the same. Glen is back this year as bar manager, and there are two new girls behind the bar Sophie & Renya, and you will be seeing Scottish John from time to time, and if your lucky he might even sing you a song or two.

The UEFA Champions League enters the quarter final stage, with sole English survivors Manchester City drawn against runaway French Ligue1 Champions Paris St German. City have the advantage of the first taking place in Paris on Wednesday 6th April with the return leg back at the Etihad Stadium 6 days later on Tuesday on 12th April.
