As many of my Apres weeks do, this one started and ended with a full English breakfast at one of my favourite haunts Rendez-Vous up on the Rue De Le Meije. The food up there is fantastic and the guys have done a great job of turning the place into a regular hangout for seasonnaires and holidaymakers alike.
If I was asked to describe my typical, and perfect, alpine restaurant/pizzeria I would simply conjure up an image of Pinocchio Pizzeria here in Alpe d’Huez.
With the curtain closing on the first week the resort has had guests, it's been party, party and more party in Alpe D'Huez (with a bit of skiing, apparently). Such beautiful snow and blue skies has been the feature here this week, everybody's spirits have been high and the nightlife is now in full swing.
Hello from my first Après ski report of the season, and there is an awful lot to report!
The hot weather and sunshine might not have done much for the snow conditions this week, but it has done wonders for Après ski. The barbecues have been fired up and people have been digging out their swimwear for some very summer like après action.
So... here we are in a brand New Year and welcome into 2009! French holiday's coupled with New Year's week has made it the busiest week in resort all season to date.

Howdy people! I'm writing this on a glorious sunny Alpe D'Huez day on a terrace over-looking the mountains. It's a hard life living out here. Today I woke up at 11am, went snowboarding in the boiling weather, before cooling down with a swim in the outdoor pool. I know , I know, this credit crunch is a nightmare!

This week's après scene has been heavily dominated by the presence of two thousand British university students. The annual Main Event is attended by members of the British Universities Snowsports Council (BUSC) and is a week-long affair, comprising parties, competitions, dinners and general student antics.
