What's on in Alpe d'Huez this week 3rd April 2017

Plenty of entertainment for the school holidays

It’s school holiday time so there’s a full entertainments programme on so whether you fancy a trip to the summit of the Pic Blanc, and art exhibition, trying curling or visiting the museum, there’s always plenty going on away from the slopes.

Here’s the latest entertainments programme up to Sunday 9th April.

Monday 3rd April

  • 10am to 1pm – Ice garden and games at the ice rink for 5 to 12 year olds. Free entry, but skate hire is required.
  • 4pm to 5pm – Children’s art workshop at the leisure centre for 8 to 14 year olds. Free entry.
  • 5.30pm to 7pm – Children’s bracelet making workshop at the leisure centre for 7 to 10 year olds. €2 per child to cover materials.
  • 6pm – Welcome drinks at tourist office in the old town. 1 hour duration. Free entry.
  • 6pm to 8.30pm – Badminton evening at the leisure centre. 12 years and over. Free entry.
  • 6pm to 8.30pm – Adults table tennis tournament at the leisure centre for 12 years and over. Free entry.

Tuesday 4th April

Patinoire Exterieure Municipale (Ice Rink)
  • 10am to 1pm – Ice garden and games at the ice rink. 5 to 12 year olds. Free entry, but skate hire is required.
  • 10.30am – Guided tour to the summit of the Pic Blanc at 3300 metres. 2 hour duration. Open to all. €2 cost.
  • 1pm to 3pm – Information and training session about avalanche rescue techniques by the mountain rescue team up at the top of the Marmottes 3 lift. Free entry. +10years of age.
  • 2.30pm – Discover curling session at the ice rink – 1 hour 30 minutes in duration – Free entry.
  • 4pm to 5pm – Children’s art workshop at the leisure centre for 8 to 14 year olds. Free entry.
  • 6pm to 8.30pm – Badminton and volleyball evening at the leisure centre. 12 years and over. Free entry.

Wednesday 5th April

  • 10am to 12pm – Wood painting workshop at the leisure centre for +7 year olds. €2 per person.
  • 10am to 1pm – Ice garden and games at the ice rink for 5 to 12 year olds. Free entry, but skate hire is required.
  • 2.30pm – Guided tour of the historic church of our lady of the snow. 1 hour 30 minutes in duration. Open to all. €5 cost.
  • 4pm to 5pm – Children’s art workshop at the leisure centre for 8 to 14 year olds. Free entry.
  • 6pm to 8.30pm – Badminton tournament at the leisure centre for 12 years and over. Free entry.

Thursday 6th April

  • 10am to 1pm – Ice garden and games at the ice rink for 5 to 12 year olds. Free entry, but skate hire is required.
  • 10.30am – Guided tour to the summit of the Pic Blanc at 3300 metres. 2 hour duration. Open to all. €2 cost.
  • 5.30pm to 8.30pm – Adults 5-a-side football tournament at the leisure centre. +12 years old. Free entry
  • 6.00pm to 8.30pm – Children's table tennis tournament at the leisure centre. Free entry
  • 6.15pm – Classical music concert at the church, behind the leisure centre. €10 entry or €5 for students, over 65’s and carte premium holders.

Friday 7th April

  • 10.00am to 12.00pm – Calligraphy and artistic workshop at the leisure centre for +10years of age. €2 per person.
  • 10am to 1pm – Ice garden and games at the ice rink for 5 to 12 year olds. Free entry, but skate hire is required.
  • 2.30pm – Discover curling session at the ice rink – 1 hour 30 minutes in duration – Free entry.
  • 6.00pm to 8.30pm – Football tournament for 8 to 12 year olds at the leisure centre. Free entry.

Saturday 8th April

Alpe d'Huez Snow Report: 11th December 2015, Alpe d'Huez - Centre
  • 8.20am – Prems on the Sarenne – Early opening of the DMC to allow first access to the Sarenne.

Sunday 9th April

  • 4pm to 6pm – Ice garden and games at the ice rink. 5 to 12 year olds. Free entry, but skate hire is required.
  • 7pm to 9pm – Exhibition of ice hockey at the ice rink. Free entry. 2 hours.

Upcoming Events

Alpe d'Huez hosts a wide range of events throughout the year. In the winter, you can expect motor racing on ice, comedy festivals, ski races and various live music gigs. During the summer months, the focus turns to cycling with the Tour de France usually passing through town. The Megavalanche, a mass-start mountain bike race that draws thousands of MTB fans from around the world, takes place in July.
