Situated within the Grandes Rousses Hotel & Spa in Alpe d’Huez, L'Espérance offers a warm and inviting dining experience centred on sharing and authenticity. 

With the convivial spirit of a bistro, it serves comforting yet refined dishes in an elegant but relaxed setting. Signature creations highlight the richness of French terroir, crafted with a modern touch. For vegetarians, it offers top-notch vegetarian gnocchi and ravioli.

For a unique experience, guests can dine on the terrace, where private "bubbles" provide an intimate setting for a cosy dinner under the stars.

The name L'Espérance honours the hotel’s deep family roots, recalling the first café opened in 1902 by Joseph Colomb in the village of Huez. This legacy lives on in a space designed for gathering, sharing, and creating lasting memories.

2. Au Dahu Grillé Restaurant

French run restaurant and bar with a nice terrace to sit out in the sun. 

Lots of Montagnarde favourites on the menu here with both the fondue and raclette getting rave reviews. They're family friendly too, with a children's menu on offer.

Open daily for lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and then for dinner from 19:00 to midnight, summer and winter.

3. La Cremaillere Restaurant

Just on the outskirts of the centre of Alpe d'Huez this restaurant has traditional charm, with a wood fired oven and seating for up to about 40 people.

Down in the old town, La Cremaillere offers good fondues and is ideally located if you're staying around the tourist office. It’s a lovely timber-clad, typically alpine restaurant with a varied menu. Most of the fondues are served with meat, but there is also a nice range of veggie options including a vegetable tartiflette, herb-stuffed ravioli, vegetarian raclette and fondue, and a cracking green salad. It’s usually busy which is always a good sign.

Traditional French and Alpine food, salads and a terrace make this a beautiful spot for dinner. The downstairs dining area offers a cosy retreat and is perfect for a big group or couples.

Open every day from 19:00 to 01:00.

4. L'Authentique Restaurant

Dine in or on the sun terrace, and choose from a selection of Italian and local French dishes like their "Tartiflette Valdotaine" or the "Lasagne au Reblochon".

Cold meat and cheese platters, salads, raclette, pastas, burgers and other grilled meats complete the menu. There are also vegetarian specialities.

Cosy and traditional restaurant with a typical mountain atmosphere. You'll enjoy the simple, local family-style dining, cooked in the restaurants signature style.

Tucked away under the “lobster pot” lift, around 50 metres from the tourist office, this lovely little mountain-chalet style restaurant offers a couple of mouth-watering fondues. The Fondue Alpine de Savoie is a local dish with three kinds of cheese, whilst the Fondue Charcutiere comes with a selection of meats. 

The concept of this restaurant is to use simple, quality produce with a selection of meat and cheeses, mostly cooked on embers. Only the best meat cuts are served, and the options vary depending on what is available from the producers.

Try their old-fashioned raclette, cooked with charcoal appliances for a unique flavour. Or opt for their signature dishes, including: Burrata, Côte de Boeuf, and Tiramisu.

Wash down your meal with a bottle of one of their quality wines from the menu.

6. Chamois d'Or Restaurant

Located at the Chamois d'Or hotel, right at the bottom of the pistes, this restaurant serves traditional gourmet French cuisine with a modern twist and made using local ingredients.

Chives picked at the nearby gorges de Sarenne, wild cumin from the riverbeds, dandelion flowers from local pastures. You will enjoy dishes inspired by and made with the best local products from around Alpe d'Huez.

Their lunch menu includes a large cold starters buffet, sandwiches, pasta, grilled meat and fish. For dinner they serve a selection of gourmet starters including foie-gras and prawns, a range of traditional meat and fish mains, and to finish, cheese-boards and home-made desserts.

They also have well-priced lunch and dinner menus as well as children's menus.

7. Au Grenier Restaurant

A reasonably priced restaurant serving typical French dishes with specialities such as Cassolette de St Jacques (scallop casserole) and medallion of veal with Beaufort cheese. Also offers a popular vegan wok dish consisting of vegetables, quinoa, rice and tofu.

Situated in the centre of the resort the restaurant is easily accessible on foot and is located on Avenue de Brandes.

Open all year round from 12:00 to 14:30 and from 19:00 to 21:30.

A rustic mountain lodge sits on a grassy slope, backed by rugged, cloud-shrouded peaks under a clear blue sky.

8. La Plage des Neiges Restaurant

Open for both lunch and dinner, you can enjoy a mountain side meal on the terrace during the day and in the evening a traditional Savoyard meal.

Located on the easier, gentler slopes the restaurant is easily accessible for all levels of skier.

In the evening you can enjoy a traditional dinner, where a snow mobile/cat mobile will transport you to and from the restaurant.

Has a huge south facing outdoor terrace with a number of deck chairs and tables outside, giving you the opportunity to soak up as much of the mountain sunshine as possible.

You can enjoy a traditional piste-side lunch of pizzas, salads soups and more, either inside or outside. The restaurant also offers evening events with a pickup service from your hotel and, at the end of the night, you can choose between a snow cat ride home or toboggan down the piste!

Open from 11:00 to 16:00 every day throughout the winter season

This traditional wooden Alpine style restaurant boasts a large terrace with panoramic views, they serve traditional French dishes.

With wonderful views over the mountains and a south facing terrace that will protect you from the wind you can enjoy a meal outside on the terrace or inside the cosy Alpine restaurant. Specialities include beef with morels and gratin, risotto or brioche with caramel sauce.

Open daily from 10:00 to 16:00 for non-stop service and lunch.

In the evenings, open for dinner service 19:30 to 23:00, on reservation only basis. Enjoy local specialties by the open fire and at the end of the evening hop in a cat mobile and enjoy the ride home.

11. Auberge de la Combe Haute Restaurant

This traditional mountain restaurant has all your Alpine favourites on the menu, including tartiflette, as well as chilli, large salads and pizzas.

Open in winter from early December to late April between 12:00 and 16:00, although on Wednesdays they are open for the Sarenne by Night experience, where you ski down in the dark to the restaurant.

Serving mountain and regional specialities, with homemade foie gras, entrecôte, fish soup and beef with cognac sauce as some of their specialities.

Typically alpine in appearance with a wonderful log-fire type ambience that is the perfect setting for a fondue. They are always incredibly busy, be it summer or winter. L’Edelweiss has an extensive menu with five different types of fondue on offer, from the Savoyarde up to the 'fondue aux morilles' with mushrooms, potatoes and dried meats.

Open in summer and winter, every day, from 12:00 to 13:30 and from 19:00 to 21:30.

Tasty traditional mountain specialities in the heart of Alpe d'Huez. They have a children's menu and can seat 40 people inside with space for 30 on the sun terrace.

On the large menu there is plenty of choice with something for everyone, including a few vegetarian options - try their pierrade, fondues, raclettes, gratins,grilled meats, salads, soups or order their set menu.

You'll appreciate the friendly and quick service. The team will give you a warm welcome and look after you throughout your meal.

L’Alaska in Alpe d’Huez is a welcoming, traditional French restaurant serving all the Alpine favourites. Expect hearty brasserade, rich fondues, gooey raclette, wood-fired pizzas, sweet and savoury crêpes, and generous charcuterie platters. With its warm, rustic atmosphere and comforting, crowd-pleasing dishes, it’s a perfect spot to unwind after a day on the mountain and enjoy classic local flavours.

L'Alaska is located in the heart of Alpe d'Huez near to the tourist office. It has the feel of a larger restaurant.

15. L'Hermine Restaurant

A convenient location for both pedestrians and skiers.

You can enjoy a traditional mountain lunch here, either on the terrace outside or in the cosy indoors. It can also make for a great pit stop on a long day out on the mountain.

Skiers can access the restaurant from Les Bergers via the L'Alpe Auris. Open throughout the winter season from 08:30 to 17:00.

Chez Jules Restaurant, Alpe d'Huez interior

This restaurant boasts great views and serves delicious food at their restaurant right on the pistes of Alpe d'Huez.

You can sit on the large south-facing terrace in sunny weather and enjoy fabulous views of the mountains. Specialities include fondue, raclette, home-made Murson rosace (a sausage from the Dauphiné region), Angus beef, foie-gras, and chicken with crayfish,.

The restaurant is only open during the winter ski season, please book a table to avoid disappointment. Lunch served from 12:15 to 13:30. Evening meals are served from 19:30 to 21:00; you are welcome to relax with a drink in the bar before or after your dinner. The restaurant is closed in the summer, except on reservation for groups from 10 people.
