One of Alpe d’Huez’ favourite black runs opened today for the first time this season.

The 'Tunnel' runs from the top of the PicBlanc lift at 3330 metres and heads off down towards the Marmottes3 lift, but just before you get to the Marmottes3 lift the aptly named run heads off to the right through the 200 metre long 'tunnel' that leads you out onto the main section of the run itself.

Steep with moguls at the top, generally the easier line is considered down the right hand side, where although still steep there are less moguls. It does get easier as the run goes on.

Not for the faint hearted, this is a genuine black run. Starting at 3330 metres it finishes down at 2700 metres at the top of the DMC second section, where you can either jump back on the PicBlanc lift and do it all again or you can carry on down some more sedate red and blue runs all the way down to Alpe d’Huez itself.
