Warren Smith & Lawrence Dallaglio Get On Their Bikes!

Verbier local and British freeskier Warren Smith has been set a new challenge – this time on wheels rather than skis! Last winter Lawrence Dallaglio, the former England rugby international and Wasps captain, took to the slopes of Verbier for 3 days of ski coaching with Warren, culminating in tackling the 35% descent of Mont Fort. Whilst chatting on a chairlift Lawrence invited Warren to take part in a charity bike ride with him and a few other sportsmen; possibly before realising the extent of the challenge Warren happily agreed. Now Warren is in training for a 933km tour across the French Pyrenees!

The gruelling challenge starts in Biarritz and ends in Perpignan, climbing at least 16 000km along the way. The team of 25 businessmen and sportsmen aim to complete the ride in 8 days and have set themselves the goal of raising £175 000 for premature baby charity Bliss.

The bike ride takes place in September 2008 and in the meantime there will be a number of fundraising events, squeezed in around the demanding training schedule! Warren plans to start his training regime in July and you can check his progress on the website of the Warren Smith Ski Academy .
