Pizzeria Pinocchio Restaurant Review

How hard can it be to find lunch in Alpe d'Huez I asked myself? I had a look in several restaurants around 2pm who told me they weren't serving food, so I was relieved when I finally found Pizza Pinocchio (which thankfully had a bigger menu than most of the others I'd seen too) They had a wide range of salads, pizzas, pasta, meats and all the traditional savoyard to choose from.

Creperie Bretonne Restaurant Review

Alpe D’Huez offers a massive range of options at lunchtime, with lots of very reasonable fast food style places, some beautiful mountain restaurants serving local specialities and a range of other restaurant options all over the town.

Baan Thai Take Away Restaurant Review

Located in
Alpe d’Huez

I have felt (and hoped!) for a long time that a Thai/Chinese or Indian eatery would prove popular here in Alpe d’Huez. Well, this year my dreams have come true because newly opened for this season is the fabulous Baan Thai Take Away.

Pinocchio Restaurant Review

If I was asked to describe my typical, and perfect, alpine restaurant/pizzeria I would simply conjure up an image of Pinocchio Pizzeria here in Alpe d’Huez.

Captain Sandwich Restaurant Review

Located in
Alpe d’Huez

I try to sniff out restaurants that are slightly off the 'main strip' of a ski resort. If you're lucky and find somewhere frequented by locals the restaurant will usually offer better value, fresher products and a friendly environment when compared to the 'traditional' restaurants geared entirely for tourists.

Alpe d’Huez

In winter it’s often all too easy to forget about the lovely old town area here in Alpe d’Huez, which can mean missing out on some of the real gems of restaurants the resort has to offer.

Pizzeria Pinocchio Review main

Pizzeria Pinocchio Review

Looking for a restaurant in Alpe D’Huez this week, I had a picture in my mind of a cosy, traditional place with a friendly atmosphere where I could relax and enjoy some good food. I wondered up the Avenue des Jeux in search of this Alpine haven and was lucky enough to stumble across the Pizzeria Pinocchio, which fit the bill perfectly!

Snack 2000 Restaurant Review

You'll find this place at the top end of resort at the foot of the pistes with a nice sunbaked terrace and seating for up to about 100 people. It's ideal to drop in if your skiing or boarding nearby.

Le Dahu Grille Restaurant Review

I always like to find restaurant slightly off the beaten track as they usually serve better food and offer better value for money. When I saw the Dahu Grille tucked away at the top of the high-street with a group of local firemen eating the lunch special I had no doubt I'd found another hidden gem.

Mere Michel cafe review exterior

Mere Michel cafe review

Mere Michel Café is situated smack in the middle of resort, only a stones’ throw from the middle stop on the cross town bucket lift (aka the lobster pots) and as such it’s super convenient for days on or off the piste.

Smithy's Tavern Restaurant Review

Located in
Alpe d’Huez

Smithy's tavern is a legendary seasonaires party bar, but I had heard reports of good food so I decided to take the plunge and see what the fuss was about.

O Bar Restaurant Review

Despite only serving Tapas and burgers, the O bar comes highly recommended by most Alpe d'Huez locals. With a friendly atmosphere, snow-sports on the big screen and excellent service, I knew that I'd made a good choice. The upstairs bar area was perfect for a solo diner like myself, but downstairs offers comfortable seating for couples and small groups.

La Cremaillere Restaurant Review

Located in
Alpe d’Huez

Just on the outskirts of the centre of Alpe d'Huez this restaurant has traditional charm, with a wood fired oven and seating for up to about 40 people. The downstairs dining area offers a cosy retreat and is perfect for a big group or couples.

Le Spot Restaurant Review, Alpe d'Huez

Le Spot Restaurant Review

Although only small and with no inside seating “Le Spot” mountain restaurant really is my favourite place to eat up on the hill. It's sunny a lot of the time here in Alpe d’Huez so dining al-fresco is the only way to eat up on the mountain.
