Christmas Snow Report, 28 December 2023

Imprint
By Caro Blackwell, Updated

We hope you are all enjoying your Christmas holidays in Alpe d'Huez and the new snow that was predicted has arrived and that it's still snowing now. Like you, we're taking a little holiday breather this week from our usual snow updates and predictions... We’ll be back next Thursday with our first snow report of the New Year and hoping that all of our new year wishes come true with mountains full of powder and bluebird days ahead.

By the time New Years Eve arrives there should be huge amounts of new snow for some fabulous new year skiing.

If you’re an off-piste skier, make sure to always check the latest avalanche warnings as it’s still early season and although snow coverage looks good it could be thin in places and not yet compacted. (Scroll down the page to see today’s avalanche rating). Stay safe when off-piste, read our guide to avalanche safety gear.

All you wanted for Christmas?

So you didn’t get the new gear you need for your ski holiday in your christmas stocking? No worries, the January sales are coming up. Before you rush out for that bargain check out our gear guides to make sure you know what the latest techs and trends are on the slopes.

New Years Eve

If you are heading out to celebrate New Year’s Eve - book now! The bars and restaurants only have limited space, the resort will be full and some restaurants are offering two sittings. You may find it difficult to get into places if you haven’t booked your restaurant in advance. Don't forget to check what time the fireworks will be in the resort.

Are you ski fit?

Oh and if you’ve eaten too many mince pies and over-indulged in Christmas cheer this week, it’s time to get your body in shape and ski-fit! We have just the guide to help you to ski fitness.
