Drugs ring busted in Alpe d'Huez
In what sounds more like a plot from a TV detective show, gendarmes busted a cocaine trafficking set up in Alpe d'Huez on Monday.
The investigation started when police were called to avenue de l'Eclose back in January of this year following reports of a shooting. On arriving at the scene a man, who was a chef in a local restaurant, explained that he had been shot in the leg following an argument over cigarettes.
Police weren't convinced and investigations continued into the affair. When it was discovered that the chef, aged 33, had fled from Alpe d'Huez to Brittany, police decided to intervene. On questioning the man again, he admitted that the attack had been carried out by a drug delaer who was owed the money for 500g of cocaine.
It also transpired that the attack didn't happen in the street, but in the restaurant where the chef worked, but the owner, who didn't want the police sniffing around had colluded to make out the incident happened in the street.
Following the investigation, police arrested three people implicated in the drugs trafficking in Alpe d'Huez, a man (thought to be the dealer) in Grenoble and another man from St Etienne.
According to police reports, officers think that over 750g of cocaine was sold through the restaurant in the past year.
