Trophee Andros Roars Into Town
This Friday and Saturday (18th & 19th December) sees the high octane world of the “Trophee Andros” ice racing series roar into Alpe d'Huez.
The action takes place on the 820m long ice race track (circuit de glace) in the L’Eclose area of town and the full throttle action gets under way on Friday afternoon between 4.30pm and 11.50pm. It then continues with live “Canal21” TV coverage on Saturday, between 4.30pm and 11.05pm, with the podium presentations at 11.10pm.
This weekend is the 3rd leg of the 7 race series (Val Thorens, Andorra, Alpe d’Huez, Isola 2000, Lans-en-Vercors, Clermont and St-Die-Des Vosges).
The Elite Pro races will be battled out between Audi, Citroen, Dacia, Ford and Renault, with French driver Franck Lagorce (Dacia) the current series leader. Olivier Panis, a veteran of 10 years on the Formula One circuit, will be driving for Audi Quattro.
In addition to the Elite pro races there will also be motorbikes, electric cars, the women’s series and up and coming teams in the Elite category.
Tickets cost €20, with under 14’s gaining free entry, a 2day pass is available for €40 which includes paddock entry. More information is available on their website.
