Tomorrowland Winter - Today!
Spring skiing is totally here!
Last week we saw the real beginning of the slushy snow and the pistes emptying. But we were denied the sun as the Saharan sand clouds blocked everything out. But this week, the blue skies are back and the sun is firmly in place for the foreseeable future.
But this week we welcome back Tomorrowland Winter! Most people - if not all! - are in resort to party away at Tomorrowland, so if you are - have a fantastic time! And if you're in resort to ski or enjoy other alpine activities, perhaps check out the event pages to know what's happening and when - and how to avoid those busier places!
Snow Report
Temperatures are comfortably above zero throughout the day now, resting at about 2C and the sun is strong. So make sure you’ve got that sunscreen to hand. There are some very red faces about the resort this week!
The temperatures are still dropping below zero most nights, and so the pistes are firming up, making for great freshly pisted runs first thing in the morning. Runs are softening up quickly now that the sunrise is 630am. So by the time lifts open at 9 am, the snow has been in the sun for 2.5 hours.
The pistes are maintaining pretty good condition, immediately to the sides of the runs, the off-piste is very patchy, or completely melted. With green grass and rocks more so than snow in the lower places. But all areas of the piste map are accessible still.
Snow Forecast
Whilst sitting on a terrace in the sun, for a well earned après drink, it’s hard to believe that it could snow again - the end of season feels are very apparent around the area! However, looking at the forecast, the temperatures are dropping below zero from Monday/Tuesday next week and we do actually have some snow forecast. We are looking at 15 - 20 cms (if the forecast doesn’t change!) falling from Wednesday - to Friday. Fingers crossed for that!
Jen's Top Tips
- The sun is strong this week, so get that sunscreen on - and don’t forget the kids before they head out in their lessons.
- If you don’t enjoy the slush, head to the quieter areas of the resort where you’ll find the snow is less cut up.
- Early morning the pistes are harder packed and then slushier later on. So you can coordinate your ski time to whichever conditions you prefer.
- Head out early morning and ski through lunch to make the most of the firmer conditions. Then stop for a late lunch or early après!
