Discover the latest Alpe d'Huez snow conditions
Alpe D’Huez is settling into classic late season form, with long sunny spells and a dependable snowpack still holding up well across the mountain. The higher slopes above 2500 metres continue to look wintry first thing, while the lower areas are clearly transitioning into spring conditions. There is still plenty of terrain open and the overall feel is that the season is easing towards its final stretch but with good skiing still on offer if you time it right.
Snow depths are currently around 70 to 110 cm at resort level, with between 180 and 260 cm higher up towards Pic Blanc. There has been little in the way of fresh snowfall over the past week, with just light flurries at altitude that have not significantly altered the base. Coverage remains solid on the main pistes, particularly above mid mountain.
Temperatures have been ranging from minus 6 to minus 2 degrees at the top, while resort level has been seeing daytime highs of around plus 6 to plus 11 degrees. The freezing level has been sitting between 2400 and 2800 metres, dropping overnight which is helping maintain a consistent refreeze. Winds have generally been light, with only occasional moderate gusts on the highest ridges.
Piste conditions are best early in the day, with firm and well prepared corduroy across most sectors. As the sun strengthens, the snow softens into a more forgiving spring surface, particularly on south facing slopes. Lower runs back to the resort are becoming heavier by mid afternoon, while higher areas such as the glacier and Pic Blanc retain better quality snow throughout the day.
The outlook remains settled, with plenty of sunshine expected over the coming days and only a small chance of light snowfall at higher elevations. Temperatures are set to stay mild, so the pattern of firm mornings followed by softer afternoons is likely to continue. Early starts will remain key for the best skiing.
Alpe D’Huez is now firmly into its spring programme, with a range of events and activities continuing across the resort. The longer days and warmer conditions bring a lively atmosphere, with on mountain terraces and village events becoming more prominent as the season moves forward.
Weather outlook as of: 30 March 2026. As I am sure you are aware, accurately forecasting weather more than two or three days ahead in the mountains is notoriously tricky. If there is a significant change we will update this section before the next full weekly snow report.
Alpe D’Huez continues to offer enjoyable spring skiing, with the best conditions found early and higher up. Aim for first lifts and focus on the upper mountain as the day warms, where the snow remains more consistent and enjoyable.
